Uttarakhand Tourism Development Council: Kedarnath and Hemkund Sahib ropeway to be built

On Monday, in the 22nd board meeting of the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Council, under the chairmanship of Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj, several proposals were approved.

Ropeway will be constructed for Kedarnath and Hemkund Sahib at a cost of more than two thousand crores. NHAI’s agency National Highway Logistics Management Limited has prepared the DPRs of both the ropeways. Now the process is going on with the Center for forest land transfer. Apart from this, NHAI has started survey work for five more ropeways.

On Monday, in the 22nd board meeting of the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Council, under the chairmanship of Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj, several proposals were approved. Sonprayag to Kedarnath ropeway will be constructed with 1200 crores and Hemkund Sahib to Govindghat ropeway will be constructed with 850 crores. Apart from this, survey has been started for ropeway between Panch Koti to Bauri, Balati Band to Khalia Top, Rishikesh to Neelkanth, Auli to Gausaun and Ranibagh to Hanuman Garh Temple. 
The Tourism Minister said that Auli would be developed as a training hub for adventure activities. 1.50 crore was approved for the master plan for this. The government will make efforts to start trekking in Bugyal. The case will be placed before the High Court for permission for trekking.

Various activities to be done through the council were approved in the board meeting. It was also decided to send the proposal for creation of 94 additional posts to the government in the framework of the council. A total budget of 55 crores was passed to conduct the activities of the council for the financial year 2022-23. Proposal to organize Paragliding, Mountain Biking, Adventure Summit, Skiing Championship, Tehri Lake Festival, Yoga Festival was placed on the board. A provision of Rs 30 crore has been made for the promotion of tourism.

Taking these important decisions
, 200 persons will be given training for cooking, service, house keeping, fruit office under Hunar Se Rozgar Yojana. It was also decided to provide training to youth in Kairav ​​Tourism, Tea Garden Tourism, Home Stay Tourism, Nature Guide. 

In the meeting, it was agreed to propose Ganga Kayak Festival at Rishikesh, Canoeing Festival at Tehri, Kayaking Championship at Baur Reservoir, Yoga Festival, Chhota Kailash Mountaineering Expedition, Trek of the Year at Pindari along with High and Low Altitude Trekking Training. It was decided to tender for double laning of George Everest road, construction of Satpuli car parking, reconstruction of Kanvashram, passenger shelter at Kedarnath Dham, purchase of electric vehicle for the department, security of tourism headquarters premises. A proposal will be placed in the next board meeting after examining the bonus to the PRD and sub-employees posted in the council.
