The landslide blocked the way for Badrinath Yatra

The highway was closed again at 7 p.m. on Sunday due to debris in Lambagad. In such a situation, about 1000 passengers were stopped at Pandukeshwar, Govindghat, and Joshimath.

Badrinath Highway is being closed due to repeated debris, which has become a problem for the commuters. Along with the Khachda drain here, the Badrinath highway, which was closed since Friday at many other places, was opened on Sunday evening, due to which the passengers breathed a sigh of relief, but the highway was closed at 7 pm in Lambagad. In such a situation, about 1000 passengers were stopped at Pandukeshwar, Govindghat, and Joshimath.

Badrinath Highway was closed due to debris and boulders in Radang Band, Bainakuli, and Khachda Nallah during heavy rains on Friday night. In such a situation, hundreds of passengers were trapped here, while some pedestrians were sent to the other side by placing ladders. On Sunday, around 4 pm, the highway was made smooth after clearing the debris in the Khachra drain, after which about 2500 pilgrims and local devotees who were stopped at Joshimath, Pandukeshwar, and Govindghat were sent to Badrinath Dham. While around 3000 pilgrims left for their destination from Badrinath.

At the same time, at seven o’clock in the evening, the highway was closed again due to debris in Lambagad. District Disaster Management Officer Nand Kishore Joshi said that after the weather was normal till Sunday afternoon, the debris fell in the Khachra drain, after which the debris was removed from the JCB right here. Now the highway has been closed due to debris and stones coming in Lambagad. Efforts are being made to open the highway.
