Government and private doctors of Uttarakhand will no longer be able to put their photos on advertisements and hoardings. Uttarakhand Medical Council has banned the use of photographs of doctors in advertisements. Registrar in-charge of Uttarakhand Medical Council, Dr. DD Choudhary said that recently a meeting of the Ethics Committee of the Council was held in which this decision has been taken.

After the decision of the committee, SOP has been issued for all the doctors in this context. There are about 14 thousand registered doctors in Uttarakhand and these instructions have been given to all of them. Dr. Chowdhary said that it is considered very lightness to put a photo in the advertisement. People know the doctor according to his expertise.

It is against the ethics to put a photo,
if a hospital wants to promote itself, then it can give a photo of its hospital. Apart from this, photos of the machines installed in the hospital can also be given. The doctor can give information about his degree and diploma if it is very necessary to take patients into confidence.
