Dehradun, July 29: Monsoon in Uttarakhand has severely disrupted daily life after continuous heavy rainfall triggered landslides, waterlogging, and road closures across several districts. According to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), 111 roads remain blocked, affecting transportation and public movement throughout the hill state.

Heavy Rain Disrupts Monsoon in Uttarakhand

The ongoing monsoon in Uttarakhand has brought persistent rainfall since Monday night, leading to landslides and flooding in many areas. Authorities have reported significant disruptions in road connectivity, with Dehradun recording the highest number of blocked roads.

As per official data, 27 roads are blocked in Dehradun, followed by 17 in Tehri, 16 in Pithoragarh, 12 each in Chamoli and Uttarkashi, 8 in Bageshwar, 7 in Nainital, 6 in Pauri, and 2 in Almora.

Schools Closed as Monsoon in Uttarakhand Intensifies

Considering the worsening weather conditions, the Dehradun district administration declared a holiday for all schools. Waterlogging and continuous rainfall have affected normal life in both urban and rural areas.

Several roads in the outskirts of Dehradun, which are known for recurring landslides during every monsoon in Uttarakhand, have once again been blocked, creating inconvenience for commuters and local residents.

Rescue and Restoration Work Underway

Officials are working round the clock to clear debris and restore road connectivity. Emergency teams have been deployed in the affected districts to monitor the situation and ensure public safety.

The administration has advised residents and tourists to avoid unnecessary travel in landslide-prone areas until weather conditions improve. People have also been urged to follow updates issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and the State Emergency Operation Centre.

Authorities Issue Safety Advisory

With heavy rain likely to continue in the coming days, authorities have appealed to citizens to remain alert and cooperate with local administration. Travelers heading towards the Char Dham route and other hill destinations are advised to check road conditions before starting their journey.

The monsoon in Uttarakhand continues to pose challenges for residents as restoration work progresses across the affected districts.
