Doon-Mussoorie fully prepared for Christmas celebrations

Christmas 2021: Christmas is being seen in Uttarakhand too. Doon and Mussoorie are also all set to celebrate Christmas. The festive spirit is clearly visible in the markets. People are flocking to shop in large numbers. All the churches of Mussoorie including Doon are decorated with colorful lights. Preparations are being made for a special prayer meeting for Christmas.

The shops in Doon are decorated with decorative items, Christmas tree, Santa Claus dress, masks, star, wind cham, skirt, fairy, Mother Mary and Jesus statue etc. There was a lot of enthusiasm among the people regarding shopping on Friday. There was a rush of customers at the shops to decorate the houses and give gifts to each other. The cost of red and white Santa’s dress ranges from Rs.300 to Rs.1500.

There are also beautiful Christmas greeting cards of different sizes available in the market. Whose price ranges from Rs 20 to Rs 500. Apart from this, attractive candles are being sold in different designs in the market. Electric candles are very much liked by the customers. It is 200 to 500 rupees. There are Christmas trees in the market ranging from 12 cm to six feet. They have been made attractive with colorful lights. It is being sold for Rs 400 to Rs 8,000.

Church ready for special prayer

Special prayers were offered at midnight on Friday in various churches of Doon. Now on Saturday, a prayer meeting will be held on Christmas morning. However, this time also the Kovid guidelines are being followed and only a limited number of people will be allowed to enter the church.

Cultural programs, city parikrama and other activities were also postponed this time. The Father of St. Francis Catholic Church on Convent Road told that this time also the event is being completed very smoothly. An appeal is being made for online prayer to minimize the crowd.

Indian Christian Youth Federation said that decorations have been done in all churches and prayers are also being done, but along with maintaining physical distance, masks have been made mandatory. Along with this, sanitizers have also been installed in the church premises. Churches will be sanitized before and after prayer. According to the Central Methodist Church Committee located on Nashville Road, a distance of two yards is being taken care of for sitting during prayer in the church. Corona guidelines will be followed completely.
