by theshivalik March 17, 2023March 17, 2023

The G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, located in Uttarakhand, India, has developed a new pulse variety known as “Uttarakhand Arhar-22” that is expected to increase farmer income and yield by 10-12%. This new variety is resistant to diseases and pests and has a shorter maturity period of 170-180 days.

The pulse variety is resistant to diseases and pests, which will help farmers reduce the use of pesticides and insecticides. Uttarakhand Arhar-22 has a shorter maturity period of 170-180 days compared to other varieties, which will help farmers to save water. This new pulse variety is suitable for cultivation in the plains and hills of the state. The university has already distributed 500 quintals of seeds to farmers and will provide more to increase production. The development of this new pulse variety will help in achieving the goal of doubling farmers’ income by 2022.
