Bipin Rawat Passed Away

A three-day state mourning has been declared in Uttarakhand on the death of CDS General Bipin Rawat, his wife and other armed forces officers in a helicopter in Coonoor, Tamil Nadu today, Abhinav Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister said.

CDS General Bipin Rawat died in a helicopter crash in Coonoor, Tamil Nadu on Wednesday. On this, three days of state mourning has been declared in his home state Uttarakhand.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s Additional Chief Secretary Abhinav Kumar said that three-day state mourning has been declared in Uttarakhand on the death of CDS General Bipin Rawat, his wife and other armed forces officers in a helicopter in Coonoor, Tamil Nadu today.

In-charge Secretary General Administration Vinod Kumar Suman has issued orders in this regard. According to the order, the national flag will remain at half-mast for three days. Government entertainment programs will not be organized for three days. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has given instructions to declare state mourning from December 9 to December 11.
Chief Minister Dhami became emotional on the death of General Bipin Rawat
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami issued an emotional message on the sudden death of CDS General Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulika Rawat and other officers in the accident. He said that being a soldier’s son he could understand what the family members of General Rawat and other officers must be going through.

The Chief Minister has prayed to God to grant peace to the departed souls and strength to the bereaved families to bear this loss. Said it is a great sorrow for us. Being a soldier’s son, he always guided me. Said that I was to accompany my father in his regiment, but destiny had something else in mind. General Rawat made a great contribution for the security of the country. The country will always remember the courageous decisions taken by him to protect the borders of the country and the contribution made by him to keep the morale of the armed forces always high.

CDS General Bipin Rawat was brought up in a small village in Uttarakhand. On the strength of his unique talent, hard work and indomitable courage and bravery, he rose to the highest post of the army and gave a new direction to the security systems of the country and the Indian Army. Uttarakhand has also suffered a great loss due to his sudden demise. We all will always be proud of this great son of ours.
Governor expressed grief over the death of CDS Rawat
Governor L.J. Gurmeet Singh (Seni) has expressed deep condolences on the demise of Chief of Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat and his paternal wife Madhulika Rawat. The Governor has prayed for peace to the departed souls and patience to the families. In his condolence message, the Governor said that the country’s first Chief of Defense Staff, the brave son of Uttarakhand, General Bipin Rawat was the pride of the country.

Today the nation has lost a brave son. CDS General Bipin Rawat rendered selfless service in defense of motherland for four decades. He will always be remembered for his extraordinary valor and courage. The Governor has also condoled the death of other army officers in this accident. Also, the Governor has wished for the speedy recovery of Group Captain Varun.

Rawat was a native of Sain village of Dwarikhal block.
CDS Bipin Rawat belonged to Uttarakhand. Rawat was a native of Sain village of Dwarikhal block of Pauri district. His wife is from Uttarkashi district. General Bipin Rawat’s house was also being built in Dehradun. General Bipin Rawat was the Chief of Army Staff. A day before retirement, Bipin Rawat was made the country’s first Chief of Defense Staff (CDS). 

His father, Lieutenant General Laxman Singh Rawat, had retired from the army with the rank of lieutenant general. Rawat started his career in 1978 with the 5th Battalion of the 11th Gorkha Rifles. He attended Cambrian Hall School in Dehradun, St. Edward’s School in Shimla and the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. He was also awarded the Best Sword of Honor at the IMA. Family members say that the example of General Bipin and his father was presented in front of all the children in their family.
