Uttarakhand: New sports policy implemented
According to the new sports policy of the state, the gold, silver and bronze medal winners in the Olympic Games will be given appointment on Group B post (Grade Pay-5400). Whereas medal winners of Olympic Games, World Championships, World Cup, Asian Games and Commonwealth Games will be appointed on direct recruitment posts of Grade Pay-4600 and 4800.
The government will provide job and sports environment to the medal winners in the National Games. After the cabinet approval for the new sports policy, its notification has been issued on Tuesday. At the same time, the treasury has been opened by the government for the emerging players of young age. Under the Mukhyamantri Udyaman Khiladi Unnayan Yojana, players between the age group of eight to 14 years will be given an incentive amount of Rs 1500 every month on the basis of physical test and efficiency.

According to the notification, medal winners in SAF Games and National Games, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, World Championships organized by recognized sports federations, participants of World Cups, Asian Championships, Commonwealth Championship medal winners will be awarded their level of sports competition. And according to its importance, appointment will be given on the posts of identified Group C of the departments.
The medal winning sportspersons who will be appointed in various departments will be provided with a sports environment for the next five years to achieve the higher goal of the respective sport. Apart from this, centers for excellence will be set up for the development of priority sports.
Will get these facilities
Scholarships will be given to the meritorious sportspersons of the state in the age group of 14 to 23 years for their sports related needs. Every year 2,600 players will be given a scholarship of Rs 2,000. National and international level players will be given free travel facility in transport corporation buses in the state. State players will be given five percent sports quota for admission in educational, technical institutions and universities. Chief Minister Sports Development Fund will also be established in the state.
