Previous Congress MP Sushmita Dev leave Party, To Join Trinamool Congress
Sushmita Dev is in Kolkata to meet with Mamata Banerjee and her nephew Abhishek Banerjee.
Previous Congress MP Sushmita Dev has leave the party and is set to join the Trinamool Congress of Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today.
The adjustment of her Twitter bio to “Former Member” of the party was the main clue of information today that she had leave. The Assam chief is in Kolkata to meet with Mamata Banerjee and her nephew Abhishek Banerjee. “She will be the essence of the Trinamool in Assam in the party that she joins,” said Trinamool Congress sources.
Sushmita Dev composed on Sunday to Congress president Sonia Gandhi, offering no reason for leave her party of thirty years yet discussing “another section of public service”. The daughter of Assam Congress sturdy and influential Bengali leaderr Santosh Mohan Dev, she was the head of the Congress’s women’s wing, the All India Mahila Congress.
She had before been a MP from Silchar in Assam, the stronghold of her dad.
Ms Dev was among the Congress chiefs whose Twitter handle was locked over a post appearance pictures of the parents of a nine-year-old girl who was allegedly raped and murdered in Delhi.
The pictures were shared by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi after he met with the parents, and many tweeted it.
As Rahul Gandhi’s account was blocked, a few Congress leaders, including Ms Dev, changed their display picture to the Congress MP’s in solidarity. The account was restored last week, after which the Congress posted “Satyameva Jayate”.
