Illegal liquor and cash worth Rs 60 lakh seized within 72 hours

After the code of conduct came into effect, from March 16 to March 18, various enforcement agencies seized illicit liquor, narcotics, unauthorized cash, and other material worth more than Rs 60 lakh.
Within 72 hours of implementation of the code of conduct for the Lok Sabha elections in the state, illegal liquor, cash and narcotics worth Rs 60 lakh have been seized. On the instructions of Chief Electoral Officer Dr. BVRC Purushottam, more than 20 enforcement agencies including excise, police, and income tax are monitoring all the districts.
Manmohan Mainali, State Nodal Officer for Election Expenditure Monitoring, said that after the Model Code of Conduct came into effect from March 16 to March 18, various enforcement agencies have seized illicit liquor, narcotics, unauthorized cash, and other material worth more than Rs 60 lakh.
It was told that from March 1 to March 18, this figure was of seizure of illegal liquor, narcotics, unauthorized cash, and other material worth more than seven crore 68 lakhs. In the big action taken in the last one day, narcotics worth three crore 34 lakhs were seized in Haridwar on March 11.
This time election seizure management system
The Election Commission has currently implemented the Election Seizure Management System (ESMS) for the enforcement agencies engaged in election duty to ensure a safe and fair election process. More than 20 agencies including Excise, Police, and Income Tax Department are involved in this ESMS. Most of the enforcement action and seizure reports are being recorded by 12 midnight every day. Enforcement agencies of all districts are registering their action in this ESMS software. Which is being directly monitored by the Election Commission and the Chief Electoral Officer Uttarakhand Office.
