On Wednesday, people of Choudhary Colony and New Friends Colony located in Gaujajali Ward-59 of Haldwani, angry with the power supply disruption amid scorching heat, protested and gheraoed the Energy Corporation officials.

The transformer blew up late Monday night near Himalaya School in Gaujajali. The employees of the Energy Corporation installed a new transformer on Tuesday afternoon. After some time, the power supply of the area was cut off due to some fault. The power that came at 11 pm went off again after some time. In such a situation, people spent the night without electricity in the scorching heat. Angered by this, people surrounded the SDO Manish Joshi and JE Azam Malik of the Energy Corporation who reached the spot on Wednesday. They also protested strongly against the department. After this, the power supply could be restored in the afternoon. Outgoing councilor Raees Ahmed Guddu said that the transformer was replaced and installed which blew up after some time. He said that a 250 KV transformer was installed after the local people raised their voices. JE Azam Malik said that the problem occurred due to overloading. The problem has been solved by replacing the second transformer. BS Rana, Deepak Bahuguna, Laiq Ansari, Mohammad Shami, etc. were present here. 

Power cuts in summer have increased problems.

The problem of power cuts persists from Haldwani city to rural areas. On Wednesday, power was cut for one to two hours in many areas including Rampur Road, Samta Ashram Gali, Gaulapar, and Rajpura. EE DD Pangti of Energy Corporation said that regular cuts have affected the power supply for a few hours. The problem of low voltage will be resolved soon.

Jal Sansthan sent 21 tankers to supply drinking water.

There is a drinking water crisis in many areas of the city in this scorching heat. On Wednesday, Jal Sansthan sent 21 tankers to the areas facing a drinking water crisis. Tankers were sent to supply drinking water to Kathgarhia, Kathgodam, Damuvadhunga, Bacchinagar, Lohriasal, Sai Mandir, Himmatpur, Rampur Road, Gaula Gate, Indiranagar, Bhagwanpur and other areas. Executive Engineer of Jal Sansthan RS Loshali said that supply is being made by sending tankers as per the requirement.
