BJP’s sting in Haridwar Panchayat election, BSP overtakes Congress
Haridwar News: According to the results of eight seats declared so far, BJP has won five, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) two, and Congress one. The counting of votes is still going on, but BJP may emerge as the single largest party in the district panchayat. It is likely to win a total of 20 seats.
Haridwar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is heading towards a big victory in the three-tier panchayat elections in the Haridwar district of Uttarakhand. The party has won five out of 44 seats in the Zilla Panchayat Board and is leading in 15 seats.
According to the results of eight seats declared so far, BJP has won five, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) two, and Congress one. The counting of votes is still going on, but BJP may emerge as the single largest party in the district panchayat. It is likely to win a total of 20 seats.
BJP-backed candidates have won 70 percent of the block and gram panchayat seats. Out of the total 316 Gram Pradhan seats, the results of 282 seats have been declared. Most of these seats have been won by BJP-backed candidates.
BJP-backed candidates have also won most of the seats in the six-block panchayats. Haridwar MP and former Union Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank have expressed happiness over the good performance of the BJP in the Panchayat elections.
