Secretary and Director of Women Empowerment and Child Development, Harish Chand Semwal, has issued instructions stating that many Anganwadi centers operate in primary schools, government buildings, or public buildings. In consideration of future weather conditions, leave should be granted simultaneously for both schools and Anganwadi centers.

Under the leadership of Women and Child Development Minister Rekha Arya, the central government has approved the upgrading of mini Anganwadi centers in all states. This upgrade will pave the way for the promotion of mini Anganwadi workers and the creation of assistant positions.

At present, 2078 mini Anganwadi centers are operating in Uttarakhand, but the need for upgrading has arisen due to an increase in population. There are a total of 20067 Anganwadi centers in the state, with 5120 of them being mini centers. The central government has now agreed to upgrade 2078 mini Anganwadi centers into full-fledged centers, following a proposal presented by Minister Rekha Arya in a recent regional meeting held in Haridwar.

The government is ensuring the post-retirement security of Anganwadi workers, mini workers, and assistants. Over the past six years, 2.74 crores have been allocated from the Anganwadi Workers Welfare Fund to 819 Anganwadi workers.

On Thursday, Anganwadi workers were educated about Mission Vatsalya, crimes against women, child marriage, and drugs at the Haldwani Municipal Corporation Auditorium. Probation Officer Vyoma Jain provided information about the POCSO Act and Mission Vatsalya and urged the workers to involve the younger generation in the anti-drug campaign.

She also shared information about child marriage and encouraged the workers to report such cases through toll-free numbers 1098 and 112. The meeting was attended by Child Development Project Officer Sheela Rautela, Protection Officer Prakash Kandpal, Surendra Prasad, and numerous Anganwadi workers and supervisors.

Calling for an increase in the pay scale of Anganwadi workers, there is a demand to classify them as state employees

On Sunday, a meeting was held under the leadership of Leela Bisht, District President of Uttaranchal Anganwadi Employees Federation, at the Bhawali Cultural Forum. During the meeting, Anganwadi workers made several demands to the government, including an increase in the pay scale to 18,000, recognition as state employees, additional honorarium for completing tasks for other departments, and a winter holiday of 15 days.

Several key members of the Federation, including State Executive President Pushpa Rawat, Organization Minister Prema Bisht, Manju Pandey, Virendra Khankriyal, Vikas Joshi, Geeta Bisht, Babita, Nirmala Pandey, Indravati Devi, Renu Mehra, and Chandrakala were in attendance.

The Uttarakhand government is taking steps to improve the income of farmers in the state by purchasing Manduve. The State Cooperative Minister, Dhan Singh Rawat, announced that the government will buy Manduve at the minimum support price of Rs 35.78 per kg.

This purchase will incentivize farmers in hilly districts to produce more Manduve. The government will distribute the purchased Manduve through mid-day meals in schools, Anganwadi centers, and Public Distribution Systems. Children in schools will be served Manduve roti as part of their mid-day meal.

The deadline for purchasing Manduve has been set for January 31, 2023. The farmers who sell their Manduve to the cooperative department will also receive the MSP price of Rs. 2700 per quintal.
