By India Today News Desk: Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhare Raje reacted to the state government’s decision to carve out 19 new districts and said it is the Congress government’s “attempt to fulfill their personal, political interests”. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot made the announcement about new districts in the state on Friday.

The BJP leader said the Congress government has put the entire economic system of Rajasthan at stake. Vasundhare Raje added that the consequences of the government’s action will have to be borne by the people of the state and the state in the years to come.

The decision to carve out new districts comes months ahead of the high-stakes Assembly polls. With the 19 new districts, Rajasthan now has a total of 50 districts.

Vasundhare Raje alleged that several important factors were ignored in the process of carving out new districts. “Because of which, instead of the ease that would result from the formation of new districts, the public would have to face administrative complications,” she added.

Ashok Gehlot announced the formation of new districts and divisions during the budget session in Rajasthan Assembly on Friday.

Vasundhare Raje said Gehlot tried to politicise the Budget and has kept on hold the “worrying” fiscal indicators of the state.

Gehlot had also announced three new divisions in the state, taking the total number of divisions to 10.
