Why are only boys arrested for love affairs of minors, not girls?

Uttarakhand High Court News: Uttarakhand High Court has raised questions regarding love affairs cases. Questions have been raised on the functioning of the police. Actually, only boys are arrested in cases of love affairs of minors. At the same time, girls are left behind.

Nainital: Uttarakhand High Court has asked a question that is often asked. The High Court has questioned why only boys are caught for love affairs between minors, while girls are let off. Actually, the Uttarakhand High Court heard a PIL against the arrest of teenage boys involved in love and other activities with minor girls. While deliberating on the petition, the Central and State Governments have been directed to clarify why only the boys involved in such activities are caught, while the girls are let off.

Chief Justice Ritu Bahri and Justice Rakesh Thapliyal heard the PIL filed by lawyer Manisha Bhandari. The petition states that in cases related to love affairs between minor boys and girls, the boy is always considered guilty. The PIL said that even when the girl grows up, the boy is still taken into custody and considered a criminal. In cases of love affairs, it is the boy who ends up finding himself in jail, when he should have been counseled rather than arrested.

20 minors still in custody During the hearing, it came to light that 20 minors are still in custody on similar charges. The court suggested that at most he may be advised not to indulge in such things, but he should not be arrested. Further, the court proposed that the State may issue comprehensive guidelines for the police department to follow the order in such situations.
