Actually, the Junior Girls Football National Championship is to be organized by the All India Football Federation. In such a situation, for the first time trials for this competition were organized in the Pavilion ground of Doon. Girls from across the state reached Doon on the first day of the two-day trial.
Except at a few places, mud and grass were seen in the entire ground. Meanwhile, the players had to struggle to pass the ball.
Due to mud and grass in the field, players were seen falling more and less making shots. The situation was such that three players were seen falling five times in one minute. Many players also got injured during this period.
Players said, that before today these trials were held in Rudrapur ground. But this time the trials for selecting the girl’s team were conducted in the pavilion. Rudrapur ground is better than the pavilion ground.
Soil was poured into the ground just a month ago. But since then, tournaments have been going on continuously in the ground. Grass-cutting work is not being done because it is rainy these days. An accident may occur due to electric shock during grass cutting during the rainy season. The ground will have to be closed for 15-20 days for repairs. It will be rectified soon. – Nidhi Binjola, District Sports Officer-in-charge
