Two arrested for robbing junior film artistes in Pune

PUNE CITY police have arrested two youngsters for their alleged involvement in robbing three junior artistes of a Marathi film near Avenue Mall on the Pune-Solapur road in Wanwadi area on May 21.
Police have identified the accused as Swapnil Kotwal (23) of Shinde Wasti in Hadapsar and Mahesh Gajesingh (29) of Bhim Nagar, Mundhwa.
A victim, Imran Khan, 21, lodged an FIR in this connection at Wanwadi police station on May 26. As per the FIR, Khan and his friends Harsh Nathe and Jishan Patni, all working as junior film artists, had gathered at a tea stall near the Avenue Mall around 4 am on May 21.
They were waiting for the bus to go for the shooting for a Marathi movie and in the meantime were having tea at the tea stall when four unidentified men reached the spot.
One of the robbers pointed a sharp weapon at the complainant’s neck while the others snatched his money. When his friends rushed to help Imran, the robbers thrashed them too and robbed their money and cell phones.
The police said that robbers looted money and valuables worth Rs 19,600 from the victims. During the investigation, a team headed by sub-Inspector Santosh Sonawane checked videos captured by several CCTV cameras, collected information from eye witnesses and got clues about the accused.
Cops arrested two accused persons on Monday. A search is on for their accomplices, police said.
