The Delhi Police Tuesday released a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for tourist police vans ahead of the G-20 summit in the national capital. The police said personality development classes, training on curbing tourist-related malpractices, and deployment of English-speaking staff are part of the guidelines.

The training will be conducted for the tourist police and other officials deployed at VIP areas. The order said the staff will be taught soft skills, personality development, as well as ways to enhance etiquette, manners, attitude, and behaviour towards tourists.

According to the SOP, Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora will inspect the tourist vans every month. The tourist vans will have a “Tourist Police” sticker and will be equipped with do’s and dont’s lists for tourists, a map of Delhi, charts for metro, cabs, auto-rickshaws, commercial centres, and cultural places etc.

These vans will be deployed at 20 locations:

  • New Delhi Railway Station (Paharganj Side)
  • New Delhi Railway Station (America Gate Side)

  • Rajghat
  • Red Fort
  • Palika Bazar
