Sixth World Disaster Management Conference will be held in Dehradun
Regarding the Sixth World Disaster Management Conference to be held in Uttarakhand, Chief Minister of the state Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that this will give impetus to the thinking and efforts being made at the global level to solve the disaster-related challenges of the Himalayan regions.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday shared information related to the Sixth Global Disaster Management Conference. Speaking to the media at the media center in Dehradun, the Chief Minister said, the primary objective of the Sixth World Summit is to discuss and address the challenges of climate change and disaster resilience with a focus on the Himalayan ecosystem and communities. Apart from this, the objective of the conference is to develop Uttarakhand as a center of climate adaptive solutions for disaster resilience and preparedness.
According to the press release issued by the Uttarakhand government, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the Sixth World Disaster Management Conference will be organized by the state government from 28 November to 01 December 2023 in Dehradun through Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority, DMICS Hyderabad and Uttarakhand State Science and Technology Council. (U COST) is being organized under the joint aegis of. Padma awardee Amitabh Bachchan will be the brand ambassador of the conference.
Heads of the Indian Space Research Organisation, Defense Research and Development Organisation, Atomic Energy Commission, Chief Scientific Advisor to the Government of India as well as representatives of leading institutions of the world, United Nations, and climate experts from India and abroad have been specially invited. At the conference, there will be brainstorming among experts from across the country and the world in the field of disaster management.
Challenges of disaster will be discussed in the conference
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the Global Disaster Management Conference will give impetus to the thinking and efforts being made at the global level to address the seriousness of disaster management and the challenges related to disaster, especially in the state of Uttarakhand and the Himalayan regions. He said that climate change and disaster resistance are very important topics and in view of their importance in India and especially in the Himalayan states, a global conference on disaster management is being organized at present.
Many foreign experts will also be involved
The Chief Minister said that experts from different countries of the world, various state and central government establishments, state science and technology councils, and researchers, students, scientists, and policymakers from various universities and institutions are expected to participate in the conference. This conference will be implemented by the Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority.
