Salt Lake slum gutted in fire

Several shanties were gutted after a fire broke out in Falguni Bazar area of Salt Lake in Kolkata on Sunday.
Officials said at least 10 fire engines were deployed to put out the fire. The firefighters were still trying to control the fire by the time this story went to press.
While no casualties were reported, many locals lost their homes, officials said.
Bidhannagar Mayor Krishna Chakraborty said, “Temporary arrangements have been made for the slum dwellers to stay in a community hall.”

Sujit said, “The firemen are shifting the cylinders with utmost care which is why there has been a delay in bringing the fire under control. The fire will be brought under control soon.” ENS
