There was a time when the workers of political parties used to reach remote villages on bicycles and campaign for elections. The workers who had bicycles were given special preference in election campaigns. The responsibility of election campaigning used to be on the workers with bicycles. It was also believed then that the candidate who has more workers with bicycles will be ahead of other candidates in campaigning.

At present, there is a focus on two-wheeler rallies in elections. From the 60s to the 90s, there was a focus on bicycle rallies. Candidates contesting elections had limited means of transport. Kapil Agarwal, who played an active role in Doiwala politics for a long time, says that candidates used to contest big Lok Sabha elections with just a few cars. In such a situation, bicycles were used a lot in campaigning. Those who had bicycles were given special preference in election campaigning.

Said, the workers of political parties used to reach the remote villages of the Doiwala area, which was a part of the undivided Mussoorie Assembly, by bicycle and do everything from pasting posters to public relations. Kapil Aggarwal says that due to less means of transport at that time, a group of youth used to ride bicycles and campaign for the whole day.
