Ratan Tata Passed Away

India’s well-known businessman and former chairman of Tata Sons, Ratan Tata passed away Wednesday evening. He breathed his last at the age of 86 in Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital. He was admitted to the hospital due to age-related health problems, where he died during treatment. Born on 28 December 1937 in a Parsi family, Ratan Tata’s life has inspired people, and there are many such examples. On the one hand, he worked as an employee in his own company; on the other hand, he was counted among the country’s biggest philanthropists by donating more than 60 percent of his business income. Not only this but based on his ability, he turned any business he touched into gold and also changed the fortunes of many people. Let’s have a glimpse of his life in 10 pictures.
Their parents got separated during childhood, grandmother raised him. The late Ratan Tata was born on 28 December 1937 but his childhood was not very good, in fact his parents got separated during his childhood in 1948, and after this Ratan Tata was raised by his grandmother Navajbai Tata.

After his initial education, Ratan Tata went to Cornell University in America for higher education and obtained a B.Arch degree from there. Before returning to India after completing his studies, he also worked for some time with Jones and Emmons in Los Angeles for about 2 years. At the end of 1962, due to ill health of his grandmother Navajbai Tata, he left his job and returned to India.

Ratan Tata never married, but it is not that he never fell in love with anyone. During an interview, Ratan Tata himself talked about his love life in detail. He had said that love had knocked on his life not once but four times, but due to difficult times, his relationship could not reach the stage of marriage. Due to his grandmother’s ill health, he came to India from America, but his girlfriend did not want to come to India. At the same time, the Indo-China war was also going on. Ultimately, his girlfriend married someone else in America. After this, he focused his entire attention on the Tata Group and worked on taking the group’s companies forward.

After returning to India from America, he started his career with his family business group Tata. But let us tell you that Ratan Tata started working as a normal employee in the company where members of the Tata Family were in the position of owners. During this time, he also did work like putting limestone in the furnaces in the Tata Steel plant and learned the nuances of the business.

After working in Tata Steel, he took over the reins of the Tata Group in 1991 and then began the process of Tata companies reaching great heights. He started focusing on business expansion.
After taking over the reins of the Tata Group, he expanded globally and brought companies like Tata Tea, Tata Motors, Tata Steel to the international stage. Today the business of these companies has become very big and these companies are providing employment to lakhs of people.

When it came to choosing JRD’s successor in the Tata Group, Ratan Tata was the most qualified person at that time who could replace him and he proved it after taking charge of the group.
Walking hand in hand with JRD Tata, he took many important decisions related to the expansion of Tata Group’s business. However, even after taking over the reins, he would definitely consult JRD Tata on every major step. This picture of the year 1993 is telling the same thing.

In the 90s, Ford was a big name in the automobile sector, but the condition of Tata Group’s company Tata Motors was not good and Ratan Tata had made a deal with Ford, planning to sell its passenger car division. But Bill Ford, chairman of American car manufacturer Ford Motors, insulted Ratan Tata by making fun of him during the deal. After this, he canceled the plan of sale and focused on taking Tata Motors forward, in just 9 years the tables turned and forced Bill Ford to bow down by buying two popular brands of Ford, Jaguar and Land Rover.

Under the leadership of Ratan Tata, the business of Tata Group grew rapidly and Tata became famous not only in the country but all over the world. Ratan Tata, who built a huge empire based on his hard work and ability, received many honors from the Government of India. While Ratan Tata was awarded the Padma Bhushan in the year 2000, he was honored with the Padma Vibhushan in the year 2008.

Ratan Tata had a dream that perhaps not everyone could fulfill, but Ratan Tata did it. We are talking about the country’s first lakh rupee car Tata Nano, it was Ratan Tata who gave the common man of India the opportunity to buy a car for one lakh rupees. He launched Tata Nano in the market in 2008, although this car could not make a splash in the market as per his expectations.

Late Ratan Tata was known as a big businessman, a generous person, and a ‘dog lover’. His love for stray animals is evident. On social media too, the billionaire industrialist used to share his pictures with dogs and posts appealing for their protection. Ratan Tata’s dream project, a 5-storey animal hospital spread over 98,000 square feet, started this year in the Mahalaxmi area of South Mumbai.

Ratan Tata remained alone all his life and did not marry, but he always felt the pain of loneliness. In the year 2022, while announcing investment in a startup Goodfellows to serve the elderly, his pain came to the world. He had said ‘You do not know what it is like to be alone? You will not realize it until you are forced to spend time alone.’ Until you become old, no one feels like getting old at all.

Ratan Tata not only had a special focus on his automobile company Tata Motors, but he was also fond of riding luxury cars. His car collection included many cars.
