Punjab Waqf Board issued grants of Rs 26.75 lakh for development of mosques in Khanna circle

For the development of mosques in Khanna circle of Ludhiana district, the Punjab Waqf Board has issued grants of Rs 26.75 lakh in the last five months. Apart from this, an amount of 6,000 rupees per month has been granted for the maintenance of graveyards and new mosques.

In a press release issued on Saturday, Estate Officer Muhammad Liaquat informed that under the leadership of Punjab Waqf Board Administrator ADGP MF Farooqui, several development initiatives have been taken up in the state. The development projects for the mosques in Khanna are progressing, and the legitimate demands put forth by the local Muslim community are being fulfilled.

He said that Rs 26.75 lakh have been allocated for the development of a dozen mosques in the Khanna circle. Under this allocation, Madina Masjid in Azad Nagar Khanna will receive Rs 5 lakh, Jama Masjid Samrala will receive Rs 7.5 lakh, Ghurala Masjid will receive Rs 1 lakh, Kamaras Masjid will receive Rs 50,000, Makkah Madina Masjid will receive Rs 1.5 lakh, Madina Masjid will receive Rs 1 lakh, Madina Masjid village Jarg will receive Rs 1 lakh, Noorani Masjid will receive Rs 2 lakh, Madina Masjid Kila Road will receive Rs 2 lakh, Madina Masjid will receive Rs 1.5 lakh, Muhmadi Masjid will receive Rs 1.5 lakh, Noorani Jama Masjid will receive Rs 1 lakh, and Jama Masjid Khamano will receive Rs 1.5 lakh for development purposes. Besides, a monthly financial assistance of Rs 6,000 has been initiated for the Usmania Masjid and Muhmadi Masjid under the administration of the Khanna circle.

Estate Officer Muhammad Liaquat informed that grants are being issued from time to time for the development of Mosques and Graveyards. He warned that strict legal action will be taken against those who try to illegally encroach upon the lands of Punjab Waqf Board and any unauthorised encroachments on their properties will be dealt with according to the law.

MF Farooqui stated that the Punjab Waqf Board is actively working towards improving the income of the board. He stated that efforts are being made for the maintenance of graveyards, development of mosques, and educational facilities. He also mentioned that the Waqf Board’s properties are being cleared of illegal encroachments.
