By Suryagni Roy: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Saturday urged the centre to take necessary steps to restore normalcy in Manipur and ensure the safe return of those affected.

During a meeting called by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, various political parties, including the National People’s Party (NPP), expressed concerns about the prevailing conditions in Manipur.

One of the primary concerns raised was the need for adequate relief materials for the affected population. Sangma informed that the government of India must ensure a sufficient and smooth supply of these materials to all locations and especially to the relief camps.

Sangma emphasized the importance of reaching out to all sections of society and appealing for peace and tranquility in Manipur. He also called for strict action against armed groups involved in violent activities and urged the central government to bring them under control.

Furthermore, Sangma proposed that the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister, along with other political leaders, consider visiting Manipur to personally address the situation and appeal for peace. Such a visit, according to Sangma, would help rebuild trust and restore normalcy in the state.

The CM expressed a shared commitment among all attendees to work collaboratively and contribute in every possible way to establish peace in Manipur, all while considering the larger national interest.
