By Poulomi Saha: Leh airport authorities on Wednesday announced all commercial flights to and from the airport will be operating as per schedule on May 17 (the same day), as the runway was available for aircraft operations.
The development came after several flights to and from the Leh airport were cancelled on Tuesday, following a technical snag with a transport aircraft of the Indian Air Force.
The defect with the aircraft was rectified and the runway was cleared at 2:30 am on Wednesday.
According to the details, the aircraft remained stuck at Leh Airport for several hours on Tuesday, which lead to flight cancellations at Kushok Bakula Rimpochee airport in Leh.
The snag was confirmed by Indian Air Force officials, who said the C-17 Globemaster was facing serviceability issues.
“With the continuous efforts of concerned agencies, it is informed that RWY is now available for operations of Aircrafts. Hence, all commercial flights will be operating on 17.05.2023 as per schedule,” the Leh airport tweeted.
