Dehradun Crime News: The accused told that they used to solve online exams by accessing the server room of the candidates’ system. On the complaint of Meerut STF, a case has been registered against the accused under the IT Act, fraud and forgery.

Special Operation Group (SOG) Dehradun has busted a gang involved in cheating in engineering entrance online examinations. SOG has arrested two accused from an examination center in Raipur. Whereas, two accused of this gang leader are out of police’s reach. Mobile phones and other materials have been recovered from the accused. The accused used to cheat by getting access to some systems through the server room in the examination center, for which one to one and a half lakh rupees were charged per candidate.

SSP Ajay Singh said that a joint team of SOG and Meerut STF raided a computer lab named Edu Choice Consultancy located on Sahastradhara Road. The online examination of Vellore Institute of Technology Tamil Nadu was held here between April 20 and April 25. Jitesh Kumar, a resident of Bihar, currently a resident of Danda Lakhound, and Rahul Kumar, a resident of Bihar were detained during the raid. Mobile phones, laptops, admit cards of the candidates, and their application numbers were recovered from the accused.

A photocopy of the display of the online exam was also recovered from the accused. During interrogation, the accused told that they used to solve the online exam by getting access to the server room of the system of the candidates. On the complaint of Meerut STF, a case has been registered against the accused under the IT Act, fraud and forgery. The accused told that the kingpin of this gang is Kulveer Singh resident of Haryana and Gaurav is from Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh. This cheating was done on their instructions. SSP said that other information is being collected about the accused. Soon both these accused will also be arrested.

This is how it used to work

Jitesh Kumar runs the lab. Rahul looks after the office work. Kulveer and Gaurav had told him about cheating in the exam in this way. Kulveer has a computer lab named Online Examination near St. Xavier’s School Canal Road. Gaurav Yadav and Rahul contact students to get them admission to various institutions. They are made to fill out the exam forms and are provided with admit cards. After this, Gaurav and Kulveer talk to various labs and get the papers solved during the online exams of the students.

Papers are submitted through Any Desk software

These people get access to some computer systems in different labs from the server room in advance. The candidates whose papers are to be solved are made to sit on the computer systems that have already been given access. Sitting in the server room, the paper solver solves the paper online through Any Desk software and submits it from there. The paper solver also keeps sending screenshots of the online paper to the people sitting outside and the candidates, so that they get information about the paper being solved.
