Flood like situation in Dehradun Rispana river
Flood in Dehradun: Due to overnight rainfall, there was heavy damage due to floods and debris in the areas around Raipur. There was chaos in many areas late at night and people sat on the rooftops. In the morning an assessment of the damage caused by waterlogging in the houses was taken. Half of the road in Shanti Vihar was washed away and many bookshelves were destroyed.
Due to heavy rains in the lower region of Mussoorie, the rivers and drains overflowed and the Rispana river took a violent form. The overnight rainfall caused huge damage due to floods and debris in the areas around Raipur. There are also reports of book collapses and collapse of culverts in many places.
Land erosion on the banks of the river and electric poles was also uprooted in many places. There was chaos in many areas late at night and people sat on the rooftops. In the morning an assessment of the damage caused by waterlogging in the houses was taken. Heavy damage has been reported in many colonies of Raipur assembly constituency from Vani Vihar to Bhagat Singh Colony, Danda Lakhaur to Mayur Vihar.
Late Tuesday night, heavy rain started in the area from Mussoorie to Maldevta and from Hathibarkala to Sahasradhara Road area. Due to this, the Rispana River came in spate at three in the morning. Due to this, the bridge connecting Shanti Vihar and Vani Vihar was washed away. Apart from this, river water started flowing over many other bridges.
Half of the road in Shanti Vihar was washed away and many bookshelves were destroyed. Due to this, there was a danger of nearby houses collapsing. Due to the rising of the Rispana river, people came out of their homes in the areas adjacent to the river including Shanti Vihar, Bhagat Singh Colony, and Vani Vihar. When water entered the houses, people saved their belongings and remained on the rooftops till morning.
