People of Uttarakhand will no longer need to go to another state for international air travel. Now a plan is underway to start five international air services from Dehradun airport in the state. Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UCADA) has also begun preparations. With the commencement of international flight services, industrial investment will also get a boost apart from tourism.

In the first phase, air services will start in Singapore, Dubai, Colombo, Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok. This information was given by UCADA’s Additional Chief Executive Officer Dayanand Saraswati.
Starting international services from Dehradun Airport located at Jolly Grant will boost industrial investment along with tourism.
Ongoing efforts to expand Dehradun airport
UCADA Additional Chief Executive Officer Dayanand Saraswati said that efforts are underway to expand Dehradun Airport to meet the additional land requirement to meet the shortage of runway for larger aircraft.
UCADA’s meeting to be held with aviation companies
He said that during the road show of the Global Investors Conference, investors from Dubai and Singapore had laid emphasis on air connectivity with Uttarakhand. Taking cognizance of this, the state government has started efforts to start air services to Singapore, Dubai, Colombo, Bangkok, and Kuala Lumpur. For this, UCADA is to hold a meeting with aviation companies on August 5.
In this, along with international flights, discussion will be started on starting domestic flights to other cities of the country like Bhopal, Patna, Chennai etc.
He said that once international flights start from Dehradun Airport, industrialists, people working abroad, and tourists will also get convenience. This will increase tourism and pilgrimage in Uttarakhand.
