Compensation of Rs 2 Lakh Provided to Dependent of Bus Accident Victim
On the death of the driver-operator in a bus accident, an amount of Rs 2 lakh was given to the dependent. There are 2900 special category and contract driver-operators in the Transport Corporation and 75 percent of the bus operations are done by the employees. Jagran Correspondent, Dehradun: Uttarakhand Roadways The management has accepted the long-standing demand of the employee organizations in Uttarakhand Transport Corporation. Now, on the death of the driver or conductor in a bus accident, the dependent will get financial assistance of five lakh rupees. Till now this amount was two lakh rupees. In this, apart from regular, special category and contract driver-operators have also been included.
On Friday, the Managing Director of Transport Corporation, Dr. Anand Srivastava ordered an increase of Rs. 3 lakh in the financial assistance amount. In fact, in July-2014, the Transport Corporation Management made a provision of financial assistance for the dead, seriously injured and generally injured passengers in the bus accident.
In this, a provision of Rs 5 lakh was made for the dependent of the passenger in case of death, Rs 2.5 lakh in case of serious injury, and Rs 5,000 in case of minor injury.
At the same time, on the death of the driver-operator in a bus accident, the dependent was given financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh. Since there are about 2900 special category and contract driver-operators in the Transport Corporation and 75 percent of the bus operations are done by these employees. In the meeting of the corporation’s board of directors held on March 1, it was agreed to increase the amount. The corporation management has decided that the provisions which are meant for passengers, will now be applicable to all categories of driver-operators as well. This amount will be given by the insurance company.
