Amit Shah calls Congress, DMK ‘2G, 3G, 4G’, asks Tamil Nadu to ‘throw them out’ in 2024

By India Today News Desk: Union Home Minister Amit Shah mounted a scathing attack on the Congress and DMK, dubbing them “2G, 3G, 4G” parties for alleged corruption and dynastic politics.

“Congress and DMK are 2G, 3G, 4G parties. I am not talking about the 2G (spectrum allocation scam). 2G means two generations, 3G means three generations and 4G means four generations,” Shah said at a public meeting in Vellore, in DMK-ruled Tamil Nadu, on Sunday (June 11).

Hitting out at the Congress and its ally DMK while simultaneously sounding the poll bugle in Tamil Nadu, the BJP stalwart urged the people of the southern state to throw out these so-called “2G, 3G, 4G” parties in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

“The Maran family (of the DMK) is doing corruption for two generations. The Karunanidhi family is doing corruption for three generations. The Gandhi family is 4G. Rahul Gandhi is the fourth generation and for four generations they are enjoying power,” he said.

Shah set a target for the BJP-led NDA to win 25 seats in Tamil Nadu, which sends 39 MPs to the Lok Sabha. He said the saffron party had “respected the tradition and culture of Tamil Nadu” and as a reflection of the “Chola dynasty’s rich legacy”, it installed the Sengol (sceptre) in the new parliament building.

Responding to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin’s demand that Shah list out the Centre’s special schemes for Tamil Nadu in the past nine years, the senior BJP leader detailed the various initiatives of the Narendra Modi-led Union government for the state in sectors including aviation, railways and roads.

“MK Stalin, I have come here to give you a list of work we have done in nine years. Please open your ears and listen to it. If you have the courage, respond to this tomorrow,” retorted Shah.

He also alleged that the ten-year Congress-DMK government indulged in Rs 12,000 crore scams, whereas not a single allegation of corruption was levelled against the PM Modi-led central government.
