Air pollution twice the standard in Doon
No need to say that life is not possible without air. The question is, how pure is the air we are breathing. Because, the better the air, the healthier we will be. We need to think seriously about this. The reason is that the graph of air pollution (PM-10 and PM-2.5) in Doon has doubled from the standard. In this way, in the absence of efforts to control air pollution, somewhere we seem to be moving towards Delhi in terms of air pollution. The graph of PM (particulate matter)-10 should be 60 micrograms per cubic meter on an annual basis and the graph of PM-2.5 should be 40 micrograms per cubic meter. Talking about Doon, here the graph of PM-10 and PM-2.5 has crossed 157 and 89 micrograms per cubic meter respectively. However, the cities of Dehradun, Rishikesh, Haridwar, Udhamsingh Nagar, Kashipur, Rudrapur and Haldwani fall in the moderate category in terms of air quality index (which is calculated by estimating particulate matter other than PM-10, 2.5).
Here the Air Quality Index (AQI) is below 200, but the dust particles PM-10 and 2.5, which go directly into the lungs through inhalation, cannot be ignored at any cost. These dust particles directly tell how our air is. Apart from Doon, the graph of PM-10 and 2.5 is less in other cities, but here also the air quality was not up to the standard.
