New Delhi : The Congress on Sunday appointed Karan Mahara as the president of its Uttarakhand unit in place of Ganesh Godiyal. Congress appointed Yashpal Arya as Leader of Congress Legislature Party (CLP) in the state Legislative Assembly and Bhuvan Chandra Kapri as Deputy Leader of Congress Legislature Party (Deputy CLP).
Karan Mahara becomes Congress Uttarakhand President
“Congress President Sonia Gandhi has appointed Karan Mahara as President of Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee, Yashpal Arya as Leader of Uttarakhand Congress Legislature Party and Bhuvan Chandra Kapri as Deputy Leader of Congress Legislature Party,” an official statement from the party said.
President changed in four states after defeat
Uttarakhand is the fourth state after the defeat of the Congress in the recently-concluded assembly elections in five states, where a new PCC chief has been appointed while revamping the Congress unit.
Sonia Gandhi took the decision
Congress President Sonia Gandhi has already reshuffled the state units of Punjab, Manipur and Goa. He had asked all the PCC chiefs of these states to tender their resignations so that changes could be made in the party units.
