Safe lodges, hotels, and Homestay in Joshimath
There are complete arrangements for the stay of about 3000 pilgrims and tourists daily during the yatra. There are about 62 lodges, hotels, and 101 homestays from Main Bazaar, Petrol Pump to Sunil Ward which are safe and secure where pilgrims can stay during the pilgrimage.
In Joshimath, 30 percent of the hotel and residential buildings may have been damaged due to landslides, but 70 percent of the city is safe for Chardham Yatra operations. There are complete arrangements for the stay of about 3000 pilgrims and tourists every day during the yatra. There are about 62 lodges, hotels, and 101 homestays from Main Bazaar, Petrol Pump to Sunil Ward which are safe and secure where pilgrims can stay during the pilgrimage.
In the year 2022, about 5000 pilgrims used to reach Joshimath for a night stay a day. Joshimath town is the gateway to Badrinath Dham. Pilgrims reach Joshimath for a night stay and start their journey to Badrinath Dham after visiting Narasimha Temple in the morning.
This time, at the beginning of the year itself, about 30 percent of Joshimath town came under the grip of a landslide, which created panic among the people. Now the landslides have reduced in the affected areas. In view of this, many places in Joshimath are safe to travel. This year the portals of Badrinath Dham will be opened for the pilgrims on April 27 at 7.10 am for which preparations have also started. Sinhadhar Ward, the entrance gate of Joshimath, and some parts of Manohar Bagh, Marwari, and Sunil Wards near it have come under the grip of landslides, but beyond this about 70 percent of the city, the area is safe.
There is hustle and bustle of pilgrims during the journey.
Gopeshwar. There is a lot of movement of pilgrims from Rishikesh to Badrinath Dham during the journey. Pilgrims travel by vehicle from Rishikesh in the morning and reach Srinagar, Rudraprayag, Karnaprayag, Chamoli, Pipalkoti, Helang, and Joshimath for a night stay. Due to the short distance from Badrinath, most of the pilgrims reach Joshimath and Pipalkoti for a night stay. Pipalkoti (up to Gadora and Mayapur) currently has 45 hotels with 750 rooms. There is accommodation for 2500 to 3000 pilgrims here.
