Watch: Tiger steps aside for elephant herd, people are reminded of a scene from The Jungle Book

The jungle has its own rules that are founded on the power balance between different animals. Fierce predators like tigers generally avoid any confrontation with elephants. On Sunday, Indian Forest Services officer Ramesh Pandey (@rameshpandeyifs) shared a video that captured this behaviour.
In the undated video, a tiger crouches on high grasses as it senses an elephant herd approaching. The tiger stays camouflaged till the herd crosses past. A few moments later, the tiger comes out of the camouflage but quickly hides again as the last elephant of the herd passes through the same area.
While sharing this clip, Pandey explained, “Both the titans avoid confrontations and keep a safe distance from each other. The first elephant smelled the tiger and blew the trumpet. Watch till end to see what the last elephant did. VC:WA”. It appears that this moment was captured by tourists who were on a jungle safari as one can see jeep tracks in the background.

Commenting on the video, a Twitter user wrote, “This video tells a lot about struggle and power hierarchy of the Jungle.”
Many people were also reminded of the “Show them respect” clip from the 2016 adaptation of The Jungle Book in which Mowgli was taught to not come in the path of an elephant herd.
Recalling this scene, a Twitter user wrote, “Remember a scene from jungle book movie where bagheera and mowgli bow down while the elephants approach. Saying we need to respect the giants coz they made the forest!”.
IFS officer Parveen Kaswan also mentioned this scene while resharing the video and wrote, “Bagheera instructed Mowgli ‘Show them respect, for the elephants created this jungle.’”
