Uttarakhand railway news: The central government has allocated a budget of 5004 crore rupees for the construction of a new railway line and enhancement of passenger amenities in Uttarakhand, with upgrades planned for the Dehradun and Haridwar railway stations as part of the station development program.
We express our sincere gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for including a budget allocation of 5004 crore rupees in the Union Budget for the improvement of railway facilities in Uttarakhand.
This will certainly lead to the growth of rail infrastructure in the state and an enhancement of passenger amenities. Eleven major railway stations will undergo redevelopment. The Doon-Haridwar Railway Station is among them.
Union Railway Minister, Ashwini Vaishnav
The Union Railway Minister, Ashwini Vaishnav, announced the state-wise budget allocation during a virtual press conference on Friday, noting that Uttarakhand has received more funds than many other states in North India.
According to the Railway Minister, Uttarakhand has received a historic budget allocation this year. From 2009 to 2014, the average annual budget for the state was 187 crore rupees, but this year it has risen to a substantial 5004 crore rupees.
Uttarakhand railway news: Station will redevelopment
The station redevelopment program will encompass Roorkee, Kotdwar, Harrawala, Kashipur, Lalkuan, Ramnagar, Tanakpur, Kichha, and Kathgodam stations.
Confusion about these station’s reconstructions
The status of the Tanakpur-Bageshwar, Gangotri-Yamunotri rail line, Doon-Saharpur, and Doon Kalsi railway projects is yet to be determined. At the request of the Railway Minister, DRM Ajay Nandan Singh provided comprehensive information on the budget and future plans.
Uttarakhand railway redevelopment budget
Dehradun and Haridwar railway stations will be upgraded to world-class standards. The Moradabad division will oversee the development of Harrawala, Roorkee, and Kotdwar. The remaining 6 stations will be redeveloped under the Izzatnagar Division. A budget of 150 crore rupees has been allocated for the enhancement of small stations between Harrawala and Haridwar.
A computerized signaling system will be installed in Roorkee and Kotdwar. The One Station One Product scheme will provide opportunities for marketing local agricultural and artistic products at all stations.
