RUDRAPUR: A 19-year-old BA first-year understudy, Manisha Arya, hanged herself purportedly after her brother unintentionally broke her mobile phone. The incident took place in the Sabaura village of Khatima town in Udham Singh Nagar on Tuesday night.

The young girl’s father, Ramesh Ram Arya, has told police Manisha worked in paddy fields on wages and purchased the mobile phone from her investments. The phone slipped from her brother’s hands while he was playing games on it. Anguished over the occurrence, Manisha locked herself in a room and made the outrageous step.

The body has been sent for postmortem after death and a case has been stopped in the matter. Police are testing the case from all points.
