Ranikhet (Almora). Deep Singh Bora. Every year new mixed forests will come into existence in Uttarakhand in the form of ‘Harela Van’ to save the forest and greenery destroyed by fire. For the first time, a five-year plan has been made to realize this model developed on forest land with public participation.

Harela forests will be developed in about 900 sections in the state. In Sauni Binsar (Ranikhet), work has been started on the Harela forest in an area of about three hectares. At the Forest Department level, every year more than one crore saplings of different species are planted. Despite this, the forest cover of Uttarakhand has not increased in that proportion.

The Forest Department has done an innovative experiment so that the planted saplings remain alive and real forests develop in the years to come. Under this, ‘Harela Forest’ will be developed in 900 sections (sections) of 162 ranges of 27 divisions of the Reserved Forest Division in Kumaon and Garhwal. Each forest will be two and a half to three hectares or more area.

‘Harela Van’ will be reared for five years. In this, small children, guardians, mother power, teachers, retired officers of all departments, employees, etc. will be able to plant their favorite plants. Not only multi-purpose hawk, cedar, kafal, dish, etc., fruit and flower plants will also be given a place in these unique forests. The message of the community will also go by developing the forest. Its fencing will be the responsibility of the Forest Department.
