First Uttarakhand Mountaineer to Conquer 2 Peaks

Kangyatse Peaks Ankit Bharti of Uttarakhand has created history by conquering Kangyatse-1 and Kangyatse-2 peaks located in the Markha Valley of Ladakh region. Despite adverse weather, he hoisted the tricolor by climbing Kangyatse-1 located at an altitude of 6400 meters, and Kangyatse-2 located at 6250 meters. Ankit has become the first mountaineer to conquer both the inaccessible peaks in six days.

Fateh Ankit Bharti brought glory to the Kangyatse-1 and Kangyatse-2 peaks in the Markha Valley of the Ladakh region.

During adverse weather, he climbed Kangyatse-1 at an altitude of 6,400 meters and Kangyatse-2 at 6,250 meters and hoisted the tricolor. Before this, he had climbed Mount Climingero, the highest and most inaccessible peak of the African continent, and hoisted the national flag.

Ankit Bharti, a resident of Clementown, Dehradun, did the Basic Mountaineering Course in the year 2019 and completed the Advanced Mountaineering Course from Nehru Institute of Mountaineering in 2021 with A-grade. In the year 2024, he took training in Search and Rescue Course from Nehru Mountaineering Institute.

For climbing Mount Kangyatse, he was flagged off by Special Principal Secretary for Sports Amit Kumar Sinha who congratulated him. Ankit said that he started his expedition from Leh to Summit Camp on the 14th of August. On 17th August at 7 AM, he started climbing from Base Summit Camp to climb Kangyatse-1. Despite heavy snowfall, he reached Kangyatse-1 peak in four hours.

On August 18, at 8:15 am, he started climbing Kangyatse-2 from the summit camp, and at 1:20 pm, he hoisted the national flag on this peak as well. The specialty of this expedition was that he became the first mountaineer to conquer both the inaccessible peaks in six days.

Ankit is working as a member of the Technical Committee of Uttarakhand Athletics Association. His next goal is to conquer the world’s highest peak Mount Everest in the year 2025.
