CM Pushkar Singh Dhami’s Redressal of Grievance
Dehradun, Uttarakhand:
Uttarakhand CM Dhami has carefully and meticulously planned and is implementing on the ground a very effective and popular REDRESSAL OF GRIEVANCE” procedure in Uttarakhand akin to almost what is followed in my erstwhile force i.e. the Indo-Tibetan Border Police.
The CM has fruitfully provided the complainants/ aggrieved a formal route to communicate and file a complaint with the CM office. Common employee grievances typically concern workplace conflict, relationship issues, working conditions, court issues, land issues, marital issues, management and supervision issues, compensation and benefits issues, arrears issues, etc.
Following the same, Dhami addressed public grievances this Sunday at the Mukhya Sevak Sadan located at his camp office.
During the session, he issued crucial directives to officials at the Chief Minister’s office aimed at expediting the resolution of public issues by ensuring each problem or complaint is promptly forwarded to the relevant department, with tracking of actions taken. Dhami emphasized that issues resolvable at the police station, tehsil, or district level should not unnecessarily escalate to the state government. He instructed officials to assign responsibility to the concerned officers for resolving such complaints ASAP.
Various concerns were raised during this program, including health services, road infrastructure, drinking water availability, financial assistance, electricity supply, and land-related matters.
Dhami immediately instructed the concerned officials to take immediate action and address all raised issues. He further directed district magistrates to regularly conduct “tehsil days” and “Block Development Committee (BDC) meetings” thereby ensuring the presence of senior officials at these gatherings.
Chief Minister Dhami also mandated that district magistrates dedicate one hour daily to address public grievances directly.
I think that Dhami’s directives underscore his commitment to enhancing administrative efficiency and accountability in resolving public concerns swiftly. His initiative is and will contribute significantly to the progress and prosperity of Uttarakhand.
In my opinion, a clear “Redressal of grievance” procedure is essential for managing and resolving disputes between the aggrieved and the aggressor. This way conflict escalation and legal risks can be reduced if not avoided completely, while maintaining a positive work environment. Establishing specific timeframes for each step of the procedure helps ensure that grievances are addressed promptly and efficiently, preventing unnecessary delays.
This procedure adopted by Dhamiji also fosters a culture of transparency and trust amongst the complainants provides them a channel to express their issues formally and helps identify their problems.
To conclude however, the incumbment Dhami government should be appreciated and applauded for this initiative which is being followed very effectively in Uttarakhand with clinical precision.
