Aadhaar authentication through a biometric system to prevent fraud.
Uttarakhand will be the fourth state in the country to implement the biometric Aadhaar authentication system. The state government is losing revenue by availing of the benefit of Tax Input Credit (ITC) by registering fraudulently.
Aadhaar number will now be authenticated through biometrics to prevent fraud in GST registration. Uttarakhand will be the fourth state in the country to implement this system.
Finance Minister Premchand Aggarwal will launch this system on July 31. The state government is losing revenue by availing of the benefit of Tax Input Credit (ITC) by registering fraudulently. To prevent tax evasion through fake registration, the GST Council has given instructions to authenticate the Aadhaar number through biometrics at registration.
Till now the system is that if any businessman or firm wants to register in GST, it is mandatory to provide an Aadhaar number. The authentication link of Aadhaar number is done through OTP on the mobile. Many times, to commit fraud, the number is given in the registration on the wrong basis. The person who has the Aadhaar number does not even have information about the registration.
